Post New Here

I'm 41, was diagnoised with panic/anxiety disorder in October after 20 years plus.. of being told I was depressed.. depression that lasts 1hr max ? don't think so or rather diddn't. Dr in tx put me on paxil for like 3 months - no problems.. took me off of it and i went back to having panic/anxiety (which at time I didn't know what it was )..

August - of last year - I had a severe attack.. Hubby took me to ER - dr knew right off what it was - since EGK , Heart monitor, blood tests , ruled out heart attack. within an hr i was fine. Ready to get out of the little bitty bathroom size room.

October.. Another one hit , cause of a sharp pain that lasted a split second, and then went into my left arm........ i went to ER .. None of the tests showed as being a heart attack , I baffled them though cause the Pain ceased after the nitro spray and patches.

They kept me for 24 hrs out of precaution. They did Echograms - twice, They took 14 viles of blood from me in a 24 hr period.. (wonder i had any left ~L~) , they kept me on the heart monitor , they did every possible test on heart, lungs ect. They did X-rays..
I was fine within about an hour - as in ready to go home and was quite disappointed when they said no you're staying ..

Tietz Syndrome - chest wall tendons Inflamed - thus the sharp less than a second in lasting .. and a few small ones. And Panic/Anixety with a few phobias attached.

Cardologist put me on Lopressor - for Paplations of the heart. As well as two baby aspirins a day.

My Dr put me on .05 mg of Xanax 3xs a day (Man I could kiss him - been on it since and its giving my life back)

My Dr kept me on Lopressor for the same reason Cardologist put me on'em. I Take 1/2 morning/night
He also has me continuing the baby aspirns - at night.

Again the tests were negative on Heart Attack.. They said My heart is in very good condition.

Husband isn't sure what to do when the attacks do hit..and I notice they increase just prior to my monthly.........and when you're only allowed 3 a day of xanax..what do you do in between ?

Kids are more understanding - or..rather they were now they just think i'm a pain ~L~ (17 and twins 12)

Is up for suggestions.. ideas extra

Okl Angel

welcome, your story is quite common, the lopressor will also reduce the effects of anxiety on the body, the xanax is very helpful but doesnt last long, later on its best taken only as needed and carry a few tablets with you when out for any unexpected anxiety or panics, it starts working after 20 minutes

paxil sometimes stops anxiety and panic attacks, did it help you? 3 months isnt long enough, people usually stay on it for a year or longer, I suggest you ask your docs about getting back on it, it goes OK with your other meds
books on overcoming agoraphobia, anxiety and panic attacks also have much useful advice

stay with us.

seems like a long time suffering of panic and anxiety. I thought I was having heart problems myself... but it turned out to be persistent anxiety and panic disorder. It's a condition that can make you feel like there are alot of things wrong with you.... but it's usually the anxiety.... read more of the posts here.... very helpful.....
