I have been taking celexa for 8 days now and I have dry mouth, no appitite (however u spell it) and am losing weight how long does this last for??? and I have restless sleep, the ativan helps but I dont want to become depenedent on it. God will i ever eat agian?? or sleep good??? I know it takes about 4 weeks and it has helped with the anxiety god I was in the hospital last week they had to give me a shot of ativan and paxil did that to me and whats funny is that I took paxil for almost a year and then i thought I was better and stopped and then 3 months later thaey came back with a vengence. Let me know out there who is taking celexa and had similar side effects I would like to know if this is normal and if it will go away??? I only take 20mg.

I take Celexa and have for about 6 months now.
It has worked wonders for me!
It is very common to feel strange in the first few weeks.Give it time and it will go away.You realy have to wait at least 3 weeks to know how you feel on it.
It seems like to me that the longer I am on it the better I feel.I now have no anxiety and no more panic attacks.I hope it works as well for you as it has for me!GOOD LUCK and let me know how your doing.

Thank you for your reply Its seems as each day that goes on it gets better Have you noticed any weight gain with celexa?? Coz when I was on paxil I gained like 25 lbs and I dont want that agian.

with an antidepressant, i dont think it can be predicted whether your weight will go up, down or stay the same
ativan, etc help you to get started on celexa and the other antidepressants, by reducing any early side effects and may be needed later for breakthru anxiety
celexa/cipramil and paxil are both SSRI antidepressants
