According to several Effexor withdrawal symptoms sites, dizzyness and nausea/vomiting is listed along with alot of other stuff. Don't expect a doctor who prescribed you it to really confirm this.
You may need to taper off it, but ever so slowly. If your doctor won't provide you with Effexor to wean off of (he may just cut you off cold turkey if he hears you want off, which is horrible), then just play along like you will take your meds but be tapering all along. Some docs are very supportive of people wanting off meds; others get their undies in a bunch and yank the meds from the patients hands, so you have to determine what you have..
Standard guidelines are around 10% cut of dose every two weeks or so...slower if symptoms are too unbearable. You might still have symptoms after even a slow taper; but hang in there because after a few months they usually go away. There are lots of antidepressant withdrawal sites to read on the net...yes, it is sometimes difficult but alot of people claim they ended up feeling wonderful and were glad they did it. Everyone has to make their own choices on this, so whatever you decide, luck to you.. |
