Can the pill cause panick attacks? - Panic Disorders Message Board

im trying to find out what is causing my friends panick attacks. can the contreceptive pill bring about panick attacks? she used to take it a while ago but stopped for a year, when she started taking it again she started getting really bad panick attacks. could it be the cause? or is it more likely to be her not sleeping well becuase of nightmares involving bad memories form the past (i think it might be that)? i would appreciate it very much if i could get some feedback on this so maybe we could do something about it. havent heard of the pill being associated with panic attacks but you could get a pharmacist to look up the side effects of her particular med.

Could she be suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) as you mention past experiences and nightmareas. PTSD will cause panic attacks, depression and other problems. I'd suggest a good therapist or counselor.

It can infact cause a hormonal imbalance which can cause panic attacks with depression. That's what happened to me.

Jordey, I suffer from Panic Attacks, I don't think they alone can cause panic attacks. However, they do not work well with every womans body chemistry. I went off the pill about a year ago thinking that it attributed to my heart racing. Now, I just feel better, kind of back to normal without the extra hormones. Maybe she should go off the pill for awhile and use other types of bc and she how she does. Like I said, I don't think the pill is for everyone.
