Will this ever end? - Panic Disorders Message Board

I'm not new to the board but new to this topic! I'm 27 years old and have been having these panic attacks sence i was 18! I'm so sick of having them! I've gotten alot better over the years just by controlling them on my own though. I took zanax for about a year like 4 years ago and i didnt really think they helped at all! I've had everything in the book wrong with me (not really) but thought i did at one time (lol) I've seemed to focus on one thing at thats my heart, im worried my hearts gonna stop at any time! I've had this thing where my heart skips beats and pains in my left arm , neck, jaw and chest! sounds like heart problems i no but ive been to the er a thousand times and had lots of test done on my heart by a heart doctor and still wont believe theres nothing wrong! some places i go i will just start freaking out for no reason, like stores that are real big or places that are crowded, casinos are horrible for me (lol) but most of the time i'm fine! seems like im sleepy all day long and then when its bed time i'll start getting sick or scared i wont ever wake up and yea i no i wake up everyday so why am i still worried (lol) my boyfriend and my kids live with me and im scared to stay home alone, i hate being by myself i think i will pass out or something. i think i put up with my boyfriends **** cuz im so scared of living by myself! this whole thing sucks and i cant take meds cuz im to afaird ill be allergic or something....im just going to keep hoping tho, these panic attacks have gotten lots better over the years so im hope for a full recovery... if anyone wants to reply please do so

Wow, you sound like me, I don't like being alone either because I am scared I will die or pass out and nobody will be around to help me, sometimes I wait to take a shower untill my man gets home from work...ya know just in case I pass out in there then I will drown. These thoughts take us over don't they! I also get pains in my left arm and think I am having a heart attack and swear this time I really am going to die, right here and now!!! the other day at the movies watching cabin fever(by the way don't see it)I thought "oh my gosh I am going to die in front of all these people". I know what your going through, it's rough, and being alone is the worst. god bless you all and have a great day.

I couldnt help but laugh when i read your reply, not cuz it's funny but because theres really someone else out there that thinks the same way i do! So you get the pains in your arm too? anywhere else? Mine are like shotting pains alittle bit, i dont know its weird! it doesnt make sence how panic attacks can cause these when i get the pains first and then panic, you know? i know i hate even soaking in the tub when noones home or really doing anything (gosh it sucks huh) are you on any meds for it?

Gee, the shower thing--yup I do that too! I sometimes hardly move from the couch for fear of something bad happening. This panic is horrible I tell ya. However, meds are effective indeed and practice daily relaxation techniques.
