Panic attacks DO go away eventually - Panic Disorders Message Board

I had panic attacks and incredible nervousness for months. I was in and out of the emergency room and even ended up in a physiciatric hospital.

I went night after night with little or zero sleep. My personal record was 49 hours. (the only reason it did go longer was because my doc gave me some klonopin....that stuff worked great)

I needed Klonopin for 4 months. I couldnt sleep without it. Now I have gone a month without using it!

Im still a little nervous but not like before.

panic attacks go away for some but can return later
we eventually become expert at avoiding them, but for some, they never go away

Mine can go away for months or even years but always end up reappearing out of the blue.

At least when I get one now I know what is happening and that it will pass.

For some VERY odd reason, my attacks seem to run in 7 year cycles.
The first time I had them, they lasted for 7 years then they went away...out of the blue, just like they came.
They stayed away for another 7 years, this time I've had them for almost 6 years.
So who knows, maybe within the next year or so they'll go away again.

I've always wanted to mention the 7 year thing to my Doctor, just to see what he'll say.
But everytime I go, I forget to mention it to him.
I think next time I'll write myself a note so I remember to ask.

There's probably nothing to it, but it just seems odd to me that they seem to run in 7 year cycles.
