Anxiety meds - Panic Disorders Message Board

Hi,
I have tried many Benzos for panic/anxiety, but they only seem to help when I have full blown attacks. They don't really help my everyday symptoms. I'm going to go to my Dr. today or tomorrow and try to get him to let me try an antidepressant like Zoloft or Effexor. Has anyone had any luck with antidepressants for panic/anxiety? Hilery

Hi hilary,

I tried effexor and to many side effects for me. I now take zoloft 75mg I have no side effects and my panic and anxiety have really improved.

Everyone reacts differently to meds so what works for one might not work for another. Somtimes you need to try different meds and doses to find the right one for you.

an antidepressant often reduces anxiety and panic attacks and is worth trying, IMO
early side effects can be a nusiance for the first few weeks

My doctor put me on effexor xr and I have had it for a month without taking it because it is scary to take something for the firs time, well today I had a doc appt and I took it, she also gave me ativan. I will let you know how effexor xr goes for me. everybody is differant, you can look up meds on medicinenet.com.have a good one
