This has probably been posted somewhere, but I am interested in finding out the various symptoms of panic/anxiety attacks. What are your symptoms? Mine are; inability to take a deep breath,
trembling
extreme nervouness
heart palpitations
Afraid that something is really wrong with
me

Your symptoms sound just like me:
hard to take a deep breath
heart palpitations
can't sleep
always have tense muscles, which lead to terrible tension headaches
worry constantly that something bad is wrong with me
can't ever relax
Are you taking any meds? Right now I'm just taking Xanax as needed, but I'm going to check into natural alternatives because I have tried so many anti-depressants and other meds and had to quit taking them due to side effects or they didn't work at all.

This disorder is very frustrating. I have been given celexa, paxil, effexfor, I know I got the spelling of that last one wrong. I had problems with all in one way or another. I felt zonked by one, or on the others couldn't sleep. I hate feeling so dulled up by these medications, however I am going through panic attacks through the last couple of weeks and I need to take something. The main thing I think is somehow treating a panic attack before it gets out of hand, because if it does, it keeps returning until you feel like you are having one all the time. Good luck on your's. I hope you will find something that will be able to help you without the side-effects.

to dorri, do try to get some valium type meds, they are fast and reliable, they relax your muscles and your mind. your meds are all antidepressants and these sometimes simply dont work
younger docs have often been brainwashed into prescribing antidepressants only for anxiety, you may need to see an older doc

self help books on agoraphobia and panic attacks have much helpful advice

My symptoms are:
heart racing(the worst)
hot flushes
feeling like I'm "out of myself"
tense muscles leading to headaches
clammy hands
feeling like something bad is wrong with me or I'm going to die.

I was told to read the book, Hope and Help For Your Nerves by Dr. Claire Weekes...and I recommend it to everyone who reads this!! It has done wonders for me and all the people who I know who have read it.
