PAXIL CR WITHDRAWL "HELL"- HELP! - Panic Disorders Message Board

I would like to know if anyone is experiencing or has experienced Paxil CR withdrawl? I have only been on paxil cr for about 8 months, at a dose of 12.5 mg, lowest dose possible & I am bipolar as well, paxil cr was making me MORE depressed to where i couldn't leave the house and i had bad night sweats and nightmares with it, but the worst part is, I began withdrawling from paxil cr about 8 days ago & I am experiencing MAJOR VERTIGO, DIZZINESS, feel like the room is always spinning, I am nauseated, vomiting, have nonstop diahrea, sweating, chills, headaches, swooshing in my ears, it just feels like my equilibrium is totally off & I almost chalked it up to my bad sinus probs or from withdrawl of neurontin, which i slowly did with my psych doc over the period of a month,and while that could only add to my withdrawl problems, I still hear all the horror stories of the 'PAXIL HELL', is this what I honestly have to endure? And for how long? has anyone had vertigo, dizziness, etc. feel like you can hardly handle another day of these damn side effects of withdrawl any longer? I am at my wits end & would've posted for the doc, except I feel their is strength only in numbers of those of us suffering from these meds, starting or stopping them and they swear we don't experience any of these things if it hasn't been properly documented. So I depend on my peers like you forum contributors to help me. thanks! I'd be so grateful.

Sounds like withdrawal - call your Dr. and tell him/her.

It will diminish but it takes time. I stopped zoloft from a very small dosage and had withdrawal symptoms for almost 8 weeks now, but it does diminish over time.

Again, call the Dr. b/c it seems that Paxil gives the toughest withdrawal....from what I've seen here on this message board.

I am actually on a higher dose of paxcil, I'm taking paxcil cr 25mg and yes the withdrawls are brutal, although I am still on the medication I do sometimes experiance the withdrawls if for some reason or another I go a day or two with out taking them, I am actually home from work today because I was going through it. I have discussed this with my doctor and he tells me that paxcil is something you can't stop taking at once it has to be gradual, it's non habit forming(you don't crave it) but you will still suffer from withdrawls if you stop taking them at once. you should discuss this with you doctor that way if it is agreed that you should be off the paxcil there is some way that you doctor can help with the withdrawls. I truly feel your pain,there is no way that you can truly discribe what you are going through to anyone who is not on it.

most people come off paxil OK, though

I used paxil for about six months and didn't think it did much for me. Withdrawal was difficult. If I skipped a day or two, I would have intense vivid dreams and nightmares. I finally weaned myself off of it. I would never suggest anyone use paxil.
