I understand where you're coming from
I've taken Xanax twice in my life, the first time for almost 7 years and now this time for almost 6.
I've always said they were a lifesaver for me, because I really believe I would have done away with myself If it hadn't been for those pills.
They gave me my life back.
There is however a dependency/tolorance issue with them, but not everyone becomes dependent on them or tolorent of them, I never have.
But some do and have a terrible time.
I'm to the point now that I feel I can wean off of them again.
I took a 1/4 MG yesterday at 8AM it's now more than 24 hours later and I feel fine.
I will however have to take another soon, as going off of them cold turkey is never a good idea.
As for the SSRI's....I wouldn't touch another one of those with a ten foot pole, but other people have great sucess with them.
It all comes down to the fact that what works for one person, may not work for another.
I learned a long time ago that there are people who will be very willing to tell you all the horror stories they know about Benzos, or SSRI's or whatever it may be.
That's fine they don't like them and they're untitled to voice their opinion.
But the thing that bothers me is when someone comes on here and asks about a drug, the first people to answer are the people who had a problem with that drug.
I've just always felt that anyone starting a new drug, no matter what it is, should talk to their Doctor, talk to the druggist, and look up the PDF for the drug.
Then if you decide to take it, take it.
In the end it's up to each person to make the decision what they put in their bodies.
