how long after taking zanex can you drink alcohol? I am on .25 mg as needed. I only take one pill two or three times a week and most times I cut them in half so I am not taking the full dose. How long after doing this can I go out and have some alchol and not worry? Thanks

Call the pharmacy and ask a pharmacist. They should be able to tell you a safe time. Not sure I would ask this in cyber-land. Mixing xanax with alcohol is bad as you obviously know.

You probably won't get a good answer on this forum. No one wants to tell someone they don't know (who may have the 'potential' for drug and alcohol abuse) that it's ok to drink alcohol.
If you are responsible some doctors will tell you that being on a low dose of Xanax and drinking alcohol is okay under some circumstances. However, Doctors will differ on this as well. For example, if a doctor had a patient who once OD on Xanax and alcohol, it's unlikely he will tell his other patients it's ok to drink while on Xanax.
If you just recently started taking Xanax, your may get really intoxicated after a drink or two. Everyone differs. If you've been taking a low dose for a while, you should be ok. I was on Valium for a while and two-three drinks max never hurt me (not sure what my liver thinks though).
Keep in mind, binge drinking while on Xanax can harm you or even possibly kill you, as with combining any other drugs with alcohol. Xanax affects the same part of the brain that alcohol does.
