Severe Anxiety/Panic And Pain

Hello,

I have suffered from anxiety problems my whole life. My ability to cope does wax and wane. I usually go on zoloft when things get to the point I cannot function. Recently I had dental work done that resulted in daily pain. I just trembled and cried and could not eat for weeks and now am a wreck. I am so scared that I won't feel normal again and that feeling causes panic. I think about it all the time. I have 3 small kids and am mentally not there for them because I am so worried. I take a benzo to sleep and just started zoloft again. So far no relief. I just feel so scared and alone. I cannot imagine ever feeling like myself again. Everything I do to help the dental pain makes things worse. I am not funcioning at all right now. I even wonder if my anxiety is causing the pain to be worse. Anxiety and panic make life so hard at times. My husband is frusterated and just wants me to get myself together. Living with pain and panic has totally drained me.

Thanks for listening,
Marie

Re: Severe Anxiety/Panic And Pain

Hi Marie88, I am so sorry you are going thru this....I am in the same boat and it is terrible. First of all, have you called your dentist to see why you are in pain or ask him if there is anything he can do to help you. Next, I know it's not easy at times, but why don't you call your primary care doctor and tell him about the pain and the anxiety you are going thru. I have GAD, generalized anxiety disorder, and I worry 24/7 about just about everything. Right now I am worried about discomfort in my legs...my doctor doesn't seem too concerned right now and thinks it could be RLS but I'm not so sure about that. But anyway, calm down....know that you are going to be okay....tell yourself that this is the panic and anxiety showing their ugly faces. But calling your doctors could help. Hope you feel better, Deb
