Panic attacks after Weaning off Lexapro?

Hello.

Here's a bit about me: I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder in October 2010. My family doctor put me on Lexapro 10mg, which I took regularly until March of this year. Due to the excessive weight gain, I decided to wean off of the medication (with help from my doctor, of course).

The first month was excellent. I didn't experience any anxiety, depression, or panic attacks. The only symptom of withdrawal I experienced was "brain zaps" but they went away. Now, however, I'm starting to have regular panic attacks again and don't know what to do. I don't want to go back on the medication because I'm trying to reach my pre-medication weight. Are there any medications that don't cause weight gain, but will help my panic/anxiety? What should I do?

Thanks.

Re: Panic attacks after Weaning off Lexapro?

ugh, I have pretty much the exact same issue!! took lexapro for 8 months, gained 30lbs. Went off in april and did fine, no problems for a few months, but I feel like anxiety is back full force now, and I am contemplating trying effexor? I am really not sure though. I keep telling myself to take it day by day and see if I can manage without meds...
