4 year old girls hair falling out while shampooing......

Hello,
I was just shampooing my 4 year old daughters hair a while ago, and
quite a bit of hair was falling out (not in clumps, but noticable).
Also while i was combing it, quite a bit came out, too.
Has this happened to anyone else here?
And if so, what do you think the problem could be?
She does not eat like she should, she is a very picky eater
and I just wonder if it could have something to do with her diet?
thank you

There are many reasons why your childs hair could be falling out...it could be nutritional, it could be a dermatological problem, if you notice it continuing to fall out than you should take her to the doctors to see what's causing it

an overactive or underactive thyroid could also be causing it. I know that is a symptom.

Yes talk to your doctor. Check out the thyroid message board here. Many women begin having symptoms soon after having a baby. Have your daughter and yourself tested ASAP since it does tend to (but not always) run in families. Don't take no for an answer from her doctor. I'm not trying to scare you but an underactive thyroid in a small child can result in stunted growth and learning disabilities. The good thing is that if it is a thyroid problem, it can be controled with thyroid replacement hormone. It's a pill made of the natural thyroid hormone that your body produces. Please keep us posted.
Good luck to you and your daughter.
