I have a soon to be 6 month old who sleeps great during the night but cat naps during the day. If I hold her while she naps she will sleep for over an hour, no problem. Of course this isn't acceptable, however, when I put her in her crib to nap she will only nap for about 20 minutes. This continues about every 2 hours throughout the day. Have any of you turned your catnappers into better nappers? I would love to have her take 2 or 3 longer naps during the day. Am I hoping for the impossible??

Mine was the same way, until they discovered at daycare that he likes to sleep on the floor on a mat with the "big kids" -- the 1-2 year olds. At home we either have to lay on the floor with him. Blanket underneath him one covering him or we start off with him in our bed. Until that time the day care and DH and I were sneaking him into his crib after rocking him, or letting him cry. He's 11 months old now and he'll sleep at "school" for 1-2 hours instead of 20 minutes with a struggle.

moni, I would try keeping her awake for longer periods to see if that will lengthen her naptime. By 6 months, I'm pretty sure that mine had settled into about a 3 nap-a-day schedule. So, dividing up her day, I'd figure when the first of 3 should be and try to keep her up until then to see if it helps.

Good luck! I'm sure you are desperate for a few minutes to yourself during the day!!!
