1st time Mom's

I was just curious as to how many of you had your baby's early, late, or on time. People are always telling me that I will go late because this is my first, but in a lot of the birth stories that I have read the babies come early. I am 36 weeks today. Last week when I went to the Dr she told me his head was engaged. I know that doesn't mean I will go early, but it gives me hope. I just can't wait to meet my son. Thanks in advance for any replys.

Re: 1st time Mom's

Wel, I have had 4 but will only share the first experience!!LOL I went in on a Friday to be checked and nothing was happening. I turned 37 weeks the next day. The next Tuesday, I felt cramping in my back that would come and go. I went to the hospital, was checked and at 3cm, and had her early the next morning. I was 37 weeks 5 days. Good luck to you and Congratulations!!!

Re: 1st time Mom's

Well, i went over with my first, at 12 days overdue i was induced, ended in c section.
In my case i think there is just a physical reason why, not necessarily what you would find with most pregnant women.
My son never droped into my pelvis, my cervix never rippened (sofened, they had to give me jell the day before they induced me), my body basicly didn't do anything to prepare to give birth, my labor was completly induced, from ripening cervix, to breaking my water, to starting my labor. I did end up dialating, but my son was in the wrong position to deliver vaginaly (his head was facing the wrong way, he had bruises all over his forehead and everything), he was actualy stuck in my pelvis, the doctors had to go up and push him back up into my uterus to do the c section...he was fine though, no damage done. It's been the same for my other two cervix didn't prepare, they didn't i've had c sections with all 3.
I can tell you with my sil with her first baby she delivered a few days early (3-4 i think). She lost her mucus plug first thing in the morning (she wasn't sure if that was it or not), she had mild cramps all day long, at about 8-9 at night she decided to go to the hospital to see what was going on if it was labor or something else, well she was 3-4cm dialated, she had the baby at around 7 am the next morning.

With my first child, I went into labor at 8 1/2 months and dialated to 3 cm. they gve me an enema and shaved me and then it stopped. I was sent home and ended up being induced when the baby was 2 weeks late. I don't think it was because it was my first child though because the exact same thing happened with my second child's birth, I mean exactly the same thing.

Re: 1st time Mom's

Thank you all so much for your responses. I think I am addicted to hearing people's birth stories. I love to hear other peoples experiences. I am starting to get nervous about the delivery of my son and really excited at the same time. I can't wait to go to the Dr next week to see if I've made any progress. Thank you all!!!

Re: 1st time Mom's

My first baby was a week late, my second was induced 3 weeks early. I think alot of the times they are hesitant to induce a first time mom but with subsequent pregnancies they induce. Not sure why that is. I just know that with my first, I was BEGGING to be induced and with my second, I had a checkup on a thursday and they simply said "wanna have a baby on monday??".
