help...my 10 month old DD grinds her teeth all day long and we can not make her stop this.....
the only teeth she has are her two front top and two front bottom, and constantly she is grinding them, i am afraid she is going to grind them down *my step dad grinded his teeth as a child and not they are really really! flat*
It may just be because there are no molars or bigger teeth to keep her front teeth apart more, she may not be able to help it. I know all of my kids grinded there teeth a bit when they were that age. I would bring it up next time you see her doctor, but chances are it'll stop on it's own once she gets some more teeth.
There are dental devices that you can get that will stop grinding, but your daughter is too young. There really isn't anything you can do to get her to stop, she probably doesn't even relize she's doing it.
ohh she knows shes doing it..she will sit and do it and listen to the sound it makes....*which makes me cringe*
but i guess i will just have to wait to ask the dr.
thanks for your reply
When ds started teething, I recall reading somewhere that some children to that because it's actually soothing to them -- sort of like when you rub a finger along their gums.
My girls did this, and still do once in awhile (18 months). It could be because she is learning, and the sound and the feeling are new to her. Shes discovering her body, and that might have something to do with it.
I asked my older daughter and son dentist about it a few months ago, and he said they should be fine, as they get older they will lose those teeth anyway, and it would be unlikley it would be damaging.
Good Luck to you!

My daughter used to grind her teeth, she was about two back then. She did that for a while and stopped on her own. I was very concerned b/c I am night grinder/clencher and it is very bad for the teeth.
