Weaning from formula to cow's milk

Can everyone tell me how they went about weaning their little one from formula to cow's milk? Also, what age?

Thanks!

Re: Weaning from formula to cow's milk

They usually say keep babies on formula until they are one year old then switch to whole milk until age two. Sometimes this is different if the baby was premature. My boys switched right over because they took their formula cold. My sister had to gradully mix formula and milk to wean one of hers and the other, she added a little juice to her milk to get her to drink it. How old is your baby?

Re: Weaning from formula to cow's milk

I'm curious about this, too! DS is 15 months old and hasn't really expressed interest in whole milk. Once in awhile he'll drink some of our skim at the table. At daycare he drinks 6 ounces of formula in a glass, then if he drinks all that they switch to whole milk. We give ds whole milk with a snack mixed with carnation instant breakfast, but he has a difficult time gaining weight and needs the extra calories.

Both of my children made the transition to whole milk at 9 months old. They stayed on whole milk til the age of 2, then switched to 2%.

Re: Weaning from formula to cow's milk

Hi I am in the process of weaning my baby girl...I was actually told not to mix the milk and formula together as they dont get use to the taste of straight cows milk....What I have been doing is substituting one of her bottles per day just with cows milk and also putting a little in a sippy cup a couple of times a day...She actually seems to love the taste Im down to about half a can of formula now, then she will just be on the cows milk...By the way she just turned 1 They say to wait until the baby is about 12 months old GOOD LUCK
