Help! What could be causing this?

My 14 month old daughter has adult body odor in her armpits. What could be causing this!?! I can not find anything online about this. Please help!

Thanks!

Re: Help! What could be causing this?

Hi, I responded to another person's post about this several weeks ago. I noticed BO in my sons armpits at 2 months! He still gets it at 20 months. And I give him a bath every night. I asked my doctor and they said not to worry about it. I can only smell it when I'm tickling him and really get in there with my face. Was/Is you daughter larger for her age? My son was born very big (over 11 lbs and off the charts for height and head) and also has quite a bit of body hair (on his back). I just figured that his body was a bit more developed and that's why he had it. Tell your doctor and see what they think, but as long as your little one doesn't seem to have any other problems...I wouldn't worry too much about it. It may just mean that our kids will have to start wearing deodorant a little earlier in life!

Re: Help! What could be causing this?

I brought her to see her doc and they drew a ton of blood to do tests. I haven't heard back yet. But they are looking into adrenal gland problems, thyroid problems, cystic fibrosis and some other things. The ped said that it is completely not normal to have adult BO in someone who isn't even close to puberty. I hate how doctors never say the same things! I hope that your doc is right and there is nothing wrong with my baby!!!

She was a preemie and has always been very underweight.

Re: Help! What could be causing this?

I know...it can be sooo confusing with what doctors say. I hope that your little one is OK too. Perhaps her Ped. is concerned due to the fact that she was a preemie. And maybe they are just a super duper efficient and wants to do everything possible to make sure that there isn't anything wrong.

Re: Help! What could be causing this?

A good friend of mines son was born 2 months premature and had lots of complications. He is now 14 months old and has terrible body odor. I don't think she has asked her Dr. about it though. Please let me know what you find out.
