daughter almost 9 and still wets the bed

My daughter, who seems normal in every way (physical, social, intelligence, etc) still requires a "pull-up" every night. SHe urinates before bed, and even if she wakes during the night, but still wakes to a full pull-up almost every morning. Her dad was a bed-wetter until he was 8 or so, so do I just wait this out??? doctor seemed to think it was "developmental" at last well child check...anyone else have a bedwetter this age??

Re: daughter almost 9 and still wets the bed

My oldest daughter did this as well. And then around the age of 9 she just suddenly stopped the bedwetting. My pediatrician said that tons of kids have this issue and that it is a bladder development issue and is completely normal. she did say that some people tried medication but that most opted to save it for sleepovers and such if it did work at all. My 4 year old still wears a pull up to bed and she said it is entirely possible that she will do this for a while as well. I hope not because it sure did bug my oldest daughter. I was told some kids wet the bed until they are teens. It is wierd how my daughter just suddenly stayed dry. I had tried limiting drinks, waking her up to go potty-you name it. Nothing worked except just having her outgrow the problem.

Re: daughter almost 9 and still wets the bed

Is it literally every single night??

I wet the bed occasionally til 8 or 9... and one of my children was a bed wetter... ironically, my most intellectually gifted child! He wet the bed on occasion until he was 12 or 13...to his dismay! But..it was NEVER nightly, maybe a few times a month, and then fewer and fewer as he got older...

I think, in your shoes... my biggest concern as a parent would be that it's NIGHTLY.

Re: daughter almost 9 and still wets the bed

My dd is almost 10 and still wets the bed a few times a week. Her doctor says that there is nothing physically wrong with her that it is developmental and that she will grow out of it. Good luck with this it is hard with a girl that wants to spend the night other places and such since others would make fun of her.
