Questioning a child's mind

Please tell me why children tend to lean more on the parent that neglects them the most? If one of the parents is not doing their parental duties and shows neglect to the child than why does the child want to be with them more? Please explain this to me????

Re: Questioning a child's mind

I always noticed that children (or later the grown child) was always more angry at the non abusing parent who didn't protect them. Maybe the child wants to be with the neglectful parent because they just want that parent to love them and if they are with them then they won't miss the chance if they will finally be loved?
