3 year old weird habit

My 3 year old have developed a "habit" I guess with his lungs. He keeps making a wheezing type sound. Like "Hhha". It's getting worse as he is doing it more and more. He tends to do it when relaxing more than playing.

When I was very young I developed habits like this one. I would wheeze, and move my mouth in a certain way. I did grow out of it eventually but did it for many years.

Is this type of thing hereditary or is it stress? I try to maintain a consistant environment. Yet my work schedule changes every 5 weeks and I am 18 weeks pg and pretty tired all of the time.

My guess would be more stress than hereditary. To be safe, have his pediatrician check him out.

Sounds like a "tic" to me, it is probably hereditary as tics can be and also possibly brought on by stress as tics seem to worsen in times of stress or excitement.

it sounds like what is called a 'tic' i started like that when i was about 4 i ended up with full blown tourettes, i am definately not saying this is what your child has i just want to explain that i was told 'tics' usually happen with increased stress but mine often come when i am relaxing so you might worry that your child is stressed when there is a good chance that they are very happy. when i do my 'tics' i hate people to point it out as this just makes me self conscious and i do it even more. your child will probably grow out of this as most children do if not then just take it as part of them as a person they cant stop even if they try.

I did this as a child too, and I have OCD.
