18 mo old (sleeping problems) - Parenting Issues Message Board

My daughter is almost 19 months, and SHOULD be sleeping all night long in her crib. She was at this stage where she was very clingy to me and would not go to sleep without being in bed with me. Once she fell asleep, I would put her in her crib only to have her wake up again and start the whole process over again. After a month or so, I just let her sleep in bed with my husband and I. Well...she now FINALLY goes to sleep in her bed on her own.(in crib) I turn on her radio, and she snuggles up with "blanky" and goes to bed. Here is my problem. She wakes up between 1-3 every morning crying, wanting to sleep with us. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to get her to sleep all night in her crib? Also, I get home from work at 9:30PM..and she is still wide awake when I get home. Is it too early for a "big girl bed"???

Hi! Ugh the dreaded sleep issues. Been there done that. I would say that you need a "method" and stick to it. At 19months that is hard (because they are still babies & cute & cuddly).

Never let her back in your bed in the middle of the night & you have to stick to your guns if you want success. If you give in you have to start all over again.

As far as a big girl bed, well I say as long as she isn't climbing out keep her in there. But that is a personal choice kinda thing.
Me, I am a worry wart and I would lie awake wondering if she was out of bed at 19 months.
