Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

My dd is adopted.

She is 15 and has FAS. She suffers with ADHD, poor impulse control and anger issues. Is there any other parents on this board that has successfully raised a child with FAS?

She looks normal, talks normal, but she clearly suffers with brain damage (for a lack of a better word). She cannot connect cause and affect, does not have any social skills or filters. She also has poor impulse control, becomes angry at any adult who tell her to do something that she doesn't want to do and will do or say ANYTHING to please her peers or make friends. I have read that this is normal for children with FAS.

She takes Concerta, Prozac and Intuivin (spelling?) and will start seeing a clinical Psychologist. There is not a lot of understanding with the problems faced by people who have FAS. I want to start behavioral training/counseling for my dd. The last counselor didn't understand FAS and she gave my dd an excuse for all her behaviors. That will not help her when she's an adult trying to live in society.

I know I'm rambling.....I am trying to find other parents who are dealing with the same problems as I am. I read lots of information, but there is no support. Am I doing everything I need to do to allow my dd to become a functioning adult in society? I'm just going on instinct and love for my dd.

Thanks for reading. I feel better just writing it down.
