Does martial arts really help kids mature and gain confidence as advertised?

Does it generally help young kids' social skills?

As long as you make sure the kids don't see it as a way to learn new bullying techniques, it is great. It builds self confindence, fitness, coordination and social skills, as long as it is in a "supporting" type of dojo. Some are highly competitive and are overwhelming on new comers. Try a first lesson at a few different schools to find one that the child fits into. Most offer first lesson free, so it costs nothing but time to find the right one. Good Luck.
