I've had PD now for three years. I started taking LND about 3 weeks ago..., which has helped with a few things, more engery, my knees don't hurt anymore...which is great. Here's the issue. I've had Cramping in my left foot for three years now, Always though it was due to surgery, I had a bunion. Well, three years later, I still can't walk very far without it cramping, and it really effects my life, meaning I don't due to much due to the cramping....can't walk to far, not even around the block....I've had it!!!! I've tried everything to no avail!!!! Which one would help me....Amantadine or Azilect????? Thank for your inputs
Best to check with your Dr. on meds. I think they all have side effects of some sort. It is best to wait as long as possible, so I've heard. If you start something and after a month or two you don't like it or you don't get any relief of symptoms, you can always stop it and try something else.
Thanks for your response. I'm looking into just taking Amantadine, I'd rather not take to much at this time, however if this helps with my foot that will be great. I'll keep you posted. I'm 54 years old, and it looks like I've had PD for at least 3 years....Great chatting with you. How are you doing? God Bless
I'm doing as well as can be expected, I guess. It seems everyone with PD has different problems (plus the major ones). I have had PD for about 10 years, looking back on it. In 1997 I could walk 4 miles a day. I kept going downhill since then. In 2004 I couldn't even walk around the block and then it was with stooping, dragging foot and no arm swing (just call me lurch). Saw Dr. for first time in 2005 for PD. I thought maybe I had had one of those mini-strokes that was causing the problems. Tried Requip and that didn't work, finally Sinemet in 2005 and that is what I've been taking ever since. It does cause some dyskinesia now though. I had seen an article that mentioned no arm swing in PD and that really hit home. I started doing some research on PD and figured I had it and saw my Dr. about it. I don't think I could have held off taking any meds for PD any longer than I did.
Greetings Betty.....Have you ever given it any thought to adding (LDN) Low Dose Naltrexone? Goggle it, there's some pretty positive info out there on it. The most promising is stopping PD from progressing. Chat with you soon....God Bless
