The biggest difference is that ET is an intension or action tremor -- it shows up when you do things like holding a spoon or a pen or buttoning a button, etc. Usually the doc will have you draw a tight spiral on a paper while holding your hand up. Unlike Parkinson's it doesn't occur when your hands are at rest. There are lots of sources of tremors other than those two. A neurologist can easily diagnose and tell you about treatments.
