Question slighlty different problem related to a kin of parkinsons

I was diagnosed with Benign Essential Tremors in 1989, since then I have been out to prove that the world's an oyster and I can do what they said couldn't be done with the disease. See I took medical assisting when this was diagnosed and the teacher told me that I would never be able to draw blood or give injections-
and then a doctor told me that she would not hire me because of the disease people would think that I was
nerveous or on drugs- TO THEM I SAY POOHY, I DID IT ANYWAY AND DO IT GOOD!!!! Benign essential tremor is a kin to parkinsons disease and the only thing that is affected is the fine motor skills of the hand and face,
it can however, become worse with age. So I feel for those who have parkinsons. I would like to know more about the disease for I have found that there are only
three current treatments for what I have: inderal,
an implanted electric shock or seizure medication. what a choice. I live with this each and every day and
make the most of what I can do with the Lord's help.

Bebe, I can understand your experience, because I worked in a hospital for 28 years, have had pd for eleven years and occasionaly had to give injections. I can remember it took intense concentration to keep from shaking while injecting a patient. I think I worked for seven years after being diagnosed and I never had anyone complain about my shaking.

I almost hesitate to say this, since I have had little luck with my DBS/STN surgery, but the medtronic rep. told me it is much easier to program just for tremors, because you are only dealing with one symptom. The surgery is approved by the FDA and has been available longer then the DBS/STN surgery. After my exprience with the surgery, I don't think I should give you my opinion. I can tell you the surgical procedure went well for me and seemed to be easy. You will have to make that decision yourself.

Beebe,

Bruce has so much to tell you.He has overcome so much.Yourself..I can only say you are a very exceptional person.If you have read the posts you will see many who live with much suffering but do manage to come out on top,such as Bruce.

I dont know how old you are,: but Katherine Hepburn,A remarkable actress suffered this most of her life.She over came it.

Best wishes,

Googy

Dear Googy;
I am 42 years old/young and was diagnosed with the
tremors in 1988/89 when I was going through medical assisting. Sometimes I give up on myself but manage to find the courage and the strength to go forward with my life, but It also scares me in a way about what other people think and the way they sometimes treat me due to the disease. So I can be very sympathetic and empathetic/

Bebe,if their is one thing you can do for your self, and that is never worry about what people think of your condition. I could care less, if people see me shaking. That is just the way it is, and it is not my problem, because that is just life
