massage therapy will not cure parkinsons but it will help with the muscle soreness from contractions and also during the therapy it more then likely could decrease the twitches, give it a try

I have read massage is a common alternative therapy. My question is would the person performing the massage, have any knowledge of parkinsons and how to treat the symptoms. Bruce

Bill does have massage from the nurse we have three times per week.Wherever he hurts,but just spot massage.She also has him do mild exercises.

My sister-in-law is in the process of becoming a professional message therapist. Part of her training was on providing therapy for people with PD. Hey, lucky me....I get to be the practice dummy.

Hi, Bruce - I have massage done 3-4 times/year. My "person" makes sure to bone-up on whatever disease a person presents with - in my case PD, but also fibromyalgia. I'm very impressed with Oregon State licensing requirements of massage therapists. lory
