Question PARKINSON'S AND (SWEATING)

I HAVE HAD PARKINSON'S DISEASE FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS BUT WAS JUST DIAGNOSED 3 YEARS AGO. MY HUSBAND AND I SAW THE SYMPTOMS FOR YEARS, BUT JUST NEVER NEW WHAT WAS GOING ON. I ALWAYS NEW SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT, JUST COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT.
HERE RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN HAVING HOT FLASHES , SOME VERY BAD. I HAVE ALREADY GONE THROUGH THE CHANGE BUT MY FAMILY DOCTOR, SAID THAT I NEEDED HORMONE PILLS AND GAVE ME SOME, BUT THEY DID NOT WORK.
I FOUND OUT RECENTLY THAT HAVING BOUTS OF SWEATING IS A SYMPTOM OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE. I READ A NEWLY PUBLISHED BOOK ON PD AND FOUND IT IN THERE. I WAS SURPRISED. BUT I GUESS SINCE THIS DISEASE AFFECTS THE NERVOUS SYSTEM ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. JANYSUE

Cool

Hi Janysue,

Welcome to the board!! You will get a lot of good advice here.

Yes, Sweating is associated with PD. In fact, before my DBS surgery, I would get so bad that my hair would be soaking wet. I wore it shorter and shorter just to keep it from dripping, to no avail. It's much better now since my surgery, but I still get some sweating.

I know i'm beginning to sound like a broken record here, but do you go to a Movement Disorder Specialist? If not, get to one right away. They are neurologists who are specially trained in.....you guessed it.......Movement disorders, like Parkinson's, Epilepsy, Tourette's Syndrome and other things like that. They know a lot more about these diseases than a regular neurologist. That's their specialty.

Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.
