This is a problem i have experienced in the past. and this is not intended to be a complete review of the subjct. Orthostatic hypotension is defined as a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up,

Prior to being diagnosed with pd, i had been taking two medications for hypertension, Procardia and Cardura. The Cardura was supposed to be to treat and enlarged prostate, which i now know wasn't a correct diagnosis.

I began having episodes of dizziness and almost passing out. I bought a BP cuff and began to take my BP sitting and standing. To my surprise, my BP when standing was much lower than the reading taken when sitting.

I had never been able to completely stop the BP medicatons in the past. Since i felt no diference taking Cardura, i stopped it first and monitered my BP daily. I continued to have dizzy spells which i fell several times.

Finally, i learned that pd can cause orthostatic hypotension. I completely stopped the BP medications and now have a nomal BP and no more dizziness or falling. My family practice doctor conirmed what i had learned.

Their are other diseases that may cause this problem. So if you have similar symptoms, i would suggest you get checked out by your doctor. Sleeping with the head of the bed elavted, avoid hot showers, eatting more salt can raise the BP.
