genetic testing Question. Help please.. - Parkinson's Disease Message Board

Hi everyone . Please respond to my question. My doctor has set me up with Genetic testing to see if the tremors on my right side of my body is P.D. can anyone tell me if this test can tell if I have P.D.??

Dr. Leiberman, director of the NPF, states there is no reliable genetic test for pd. A study done in Italy showed less then 0.5% of pd cases were caused by specific genes. It has been said that if the population of the U.S. were traced back 5-6 generations, about 15% of pd would be caused by specific genes.

Tremors on one side of the body, suggests further testing for pd.

The conclusion is genes along with environmental conditions are factors in causing pd.
