hands shaking - Parkinson's Disease Message Board

In the past few weeks, my hands have hardly stopped shaking. Sometimes they arent as bad as others, but they get worse whenever i am stressed or worried about something. also my arm has shook a few times, and its been twitching occasionally. also my mouth was twitching a few days ago. I went the doctors the other week, she said it is probably stress related, and that it should pass, but so far the shaking is still there. Can anyone help? By the way I am 18 years old.

and i forgot to mention, the tremor is there when my hands arent moving.when im doing something with my hands i cant tell its there.

Do you have any other symptoms? Anything else going on physically?

Temors on both sides without any other symptoms plus your age are frequently misdiagnosed, because tremors are not specific for pd.

Look closely for other symptoms and make an appointment with a MDS (movement disorder specialist). A MDS is a neurologist with a sub speciality in movement disdrders.

Go to the medtronic web site and you will find a list of qualified neurologists with there phone number. Your best bet is a doctor from a teaching hospital or a university med center. You will save yourself a lot of frustration, if you make the appointment

Well the full story is,about 3 or 4 weeks ago now, i started to feel sick, threw up, then started gong dizzy. soon after this, i started shaking. since then, my hands have been shaking, sometimes a single finger twitches, and also my arm has been twitching (and my mouth once, as strange as that sounds), and has shook a few times. this is probably nothing to do with the shaking, but my legs tend to ache really quickly, say if i just come up the stairs, they ache. if i only walk to the shop which is across the road from me, and walk back again, they ache. also i lose my balance occasionally. but i presume this is probably nothing to do with the shaking. I dont really know what to think though...thanx for replying.
