Re: The Best Parkison's Medication?

MOST MPORTANT: check with a top neurologist with a lot of experience...2 or 3 would be even better. They can tailor with meds are best for your stage. Its may be best to wait to use Levadopa (Sinamet) but it probably has the least side effects (initially at least) and works the best. The key is not to use too much and to spread out the dosing to avoid peaks and valleys. This may also delay or prevent dyskinsia and other side effects
...stress can and will aggravate your symptoms...or may trigger them as well.

Re: The Best Parkison's Medication?

The guy Im going to has 15 year experience. Have been seen by 2. He put me on meripex 0.75 I believe. I haven't had any side effects really except I am noticing not as much concentration and thinking problems. Without it, I am constantly falling.. bruising my hips, not able to talk right, shaking (just nonfunctional).. Luckily Im 35 and my bones are still in good shape. It sucks feeling dependant on daily living and functioning on this stuff. I am just afraid hes gave me one that will wear off and it wont be any use for me later on when I need it really bad.
My doctor never staged me so I am not sure what stage im in. I know all to well about the stress, i get upset and I shake and my arms move.. its really embarrassing.. I do question if stress can actually cause Parkinsons to progress faster?

Thank you so much, I will remember that medicaiton as a last resort.

Re: The Best Parkison's Medication?

Dont think of it as a last resort and dont wait too long to use it. The key is to use is to have a top neurologist who can balance the Levadopa with another drug (like a COMT inhibitor or rasagaline) that can make the Levadopa last longer so you wont have to use very much. This proper dosing is a real art not all doctors can do. It helps if you make a daily chart that records how you feel before and after each dose. this way the doctor can better plan your dosing schedule. Dont forget to discuss the "Pulsatile Theory of Levadopa Administration" with your doctor. This is very important...best of Luck
