Unhappy Newly Diagnosed... but still feel not sure.
Newly diag. two weeks ago confirmed by Neurologist.


My symptoms. .
2 years ago ...lost sence of smell
1 ago started with depression for no reason...
1 year ago , started with leg jerks while i was sleeping nightly
3 months ago started with right hand pinky twiching, then whole hand on right side
2 months ago the same started on left side
****always worse in the A.M. for hours, but constant throughout the day
2 months ago started with speech sluring and studdering.
now muscles throughout my body twich, when resting.

my problem is when I went to the Neurologist, she spent two hours with me asking me questions and performing nuemoruos motor function test...but no blood test or any kind of scan. I am just puzzled at how she can come to a conclusion of parkinsons when these symptoms could be related to other problems . just seems weird with no lab work or scans, I am suppose to believe its Parkinsons??????

My husband was diagnosed without a scan. It was such a relief to get a diagnosis after a couple of years going to gp. Parkinson's doctors and nurses are a special breakd. I can leve a message for the nurse and usual see her if we need. See if you can find a support group. The one we go to in Airdrie is brilliant.

There are no tests or scans to confirm Parkinson's only eliminate other possibilites. My dad did go through all the tests and scans and they found nothing. Diagnoses is only done by what you went through with the neurologist. Unfortunately the symptoms you list are are classic Parkinson's symptoms-all the same as my dad's when diagnosed. Another symptom he had long before he was diagnosed was acting out nightmares - I have only found out through research that is often associated with Parkinson's 20 or more years before it actually presents. He lost his sense of smell well before his diagnosis as well.
Sorry you have to go through this.
