Unhappy Does anyone else have MPD?

Please forgive me for my bad spelling and ignorance on the web as computers are very new to me and I'm a slow learner.
I was diagnosed with psychotic MPD just over a year ago and I was totally confused and devastated. I also have psychosomaticism. At first I was diagnosed with BPD with psychotic symptoms, and was put on medication for it, however, I got much worse and was eventually committed, it was then that I was told that I had MPD and many other psychological disorders.
I am now on different meds but things have not changed for me. I'm a walking disaster and I am fed up with psychiatrists, crisis teams, psyche nurses, and social workers that plague me every month. I have now come to the conclusion that I must help myself and not believe that the professionals are always right, especially when it comes to the meds.
I will not only survive my illness's, I am determined to beat it and prove that it can be done without all the med's and fuss that is forced upon me.
Does anyone else out there have MPD or know about the disorder so that I can prove that I don't have it and have been misdiagnosed once again.
Thanks for listening. X

Thumbs up Re: Does anyone else have MPD?

I am glad that you are very positive about getting through this. Don't focus on the diagnosis, just let your doctor treat the symptoms you are having. Finding the right medication that works for you may be a struggle but once you do it will be much better. I don't know anything about your diagnosis.
I suffer from depression and have had other symptoms. I'm being treated for both and the medication has caused me to gain 70 lbs. and my prolactin levels are too high. I have cut back one of the meds i'm on but I'm scared to go off it completely because I don't want to relapse. I went off my meds once for three months and I ended up in the hospital because my arms were going numb and I just didn't feel right.
Stay positive, sometimes it takes a month for meds to really work the way there suppose to. The worst thing you can do is deny that there is something wrong and refuse treatment.

Re: Does anyone else have MPD?

Hi. I have MPD, or as it is called now, DID (dissociative identity disorder). I was diagnosed in 1991. There is no medicine for this. The meds that I take are for depression and I take one for psychotic episodes that I had while under extreme stress about a year ago. I would be willing to communicate with you further about this subject if you want.

Re: Does anyone else have MPD?

Hi Imajeanation, thank you for your reply, I was beginning to think I was on my own. I was at first diagnosed with BPD then Psychosomatic-ism, then schizophrenia. I am now trying another med for Psychotic MPD and I am fed up with taking meds that do nothing for me but make me ill. I have an appointment on the 14th to see a neurologist, so that should be interesting as I've already had an MRI, so I don't no how he is suppose to help. I'm currently taking Quetiapine and Risperidone for my DID and Mirtazapine for my depression, but I also take maximum dosages of Temazepam and Diazepam as I suffer with severe anxiety and stress. I feel like a walking zombie carrying a time bomb. I have no life and rarely leave the home as I am so fearful of what may happen to me. I lose time, names and faces, and never no what I've done or where I've been so I find it easier to stay in. I have no life now and have no friends and things are not getting any easier. My medication is not helping me and the side effects are horrendous so I am off them for now and I'll see what happens, (I've not told my Psychiatrist) as I know he'll go mad. Thanks for being there. XXX
