Psychosis is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a "loss of contact with reality".

Generally psychosis is refered to as a pattern of belief and behaviour including,

Hallucinations, verbal, visual, somatic, touch, smell, psychic.
Delusions: false beliefs based on sufferers perceptions
and Distorted reality: a break with understanding the world around them, and their own existence within that world. i.e. distorted reality.
