I was wondering what treatments are out there for someone with mainly 1 phobia.. i've got emetophobia & i'm desperate for some kind of control over my panic attacks. I have a strong family history of severe depression and anxiety problems. Fortunately I have not been hit as hard as the rest of my family..yet.. I hope lol. I don't like the idea of taking a daily medicatoin like Paxil or Effexor or Lexapro, out of the question. Have thought about Xanax but that kind of scares me I know it can be addictive & also have a family history of addiction. I hear it just makes you sleepy and sad. Also thought about trying biofeedback. Did anyone think this helped them? I hated desenstization therapy when I tried, left me scarred mentally & hated cognitive therapy.
What are my options? Anyone else on here what have you done that ans't a dail ymedication to control a panic attack or cure a phobia?
Thanks!
I haven't found anything for phobia treatments here either. I am in the metro Detroit area. If you find anything on the web or otherwise pls let me know. My phobias are ruining my life.. I almost can't function on a daily basis and I need something! I'll let you know If I find something as well.. Good luck. !@

theres lots of info and boards about emetophobia on the net, also called FOV or fear of vomiting
xanax as needed would help to calm you
an antidepressant may help a lot, lots of people take them
sometimes we have to do things that we hate at first
You obviously didn;t have the right therapist for you, there is no way to get over a phobia without exposure therapy medecation can make you less stressed in times of exposure but will not fix the phobia itself
