Did anybody see Montel January 6 re: Pituitary?

I'm trying to narrow down my problem. I was diagnoised last year with hypo (I think) and was prescribed by my request Amour. I am still gaining weight and when I saw the lady on the Montel show last week (tuesday I think, Jan 6) where she kept gaining weight until she was 300 pounds I felt like her.

Montel asked "what was your first sign that something was wrong" and she said "I looked like I was 7 months pregnant with twins" I said BINGO. Turned out she had a tumor on her pituitary gland they couldn't find. I went to my doctor yesterday to get a refill and asked to be referred to UAB Endocrinolgy clinic in Birmingham Al. This is a new doctor that I'm seeing btw and I couldn't get through to her that my weight gain in the last year and all in my stomach is alarming! I could accept that it might of been my thyroid but meds haven't helped. My new doctor says I have IBS and bloating. AGHHHH! She wants me to go for a GI.

I have always been thin. I used to have trouble gaining weight until last year when the switch got flipped and I've gained 35 pounds in a few months.

She did xrays to make sure I didn't have any masses in my uterus and ok, I can accept that but then she says I have a sluggish colon. Duh. If you have thyroid problems you have a sluggish colon.

Any suggestions?

is a sluggish colon the same as being constipated? (forgive my ignorance) but yes constipation is a sympton of TD. (if you cannot account for it any other way)

Good Luck

I'm not constipated per se but according to the good doctor, I have a build up of residue. I don't go "enough" to clean it all out by her standards. She was seeing gas on the Xrays she took yesterday and it reminded me to speak with her about my severe heartburn, which also started with the weight gain and thyroid problems.

Gee my xrays always show big black blobs which are gas....we are all quite WINDY! and the heartburn, acid reflux, hiatus hernia, thinning hair, achy bones and muscles, exhaustion galore, too pooped to pop I call it, but we are very nice people with good senses of humour and love! I go from constipation to the big 'D' and back again.....rarely if ever 'normal' b.m.'s so hand in hand with that pesky gland which seems to control all our bodily functions be that what they may.... hmmmm wonder why we are all soooooooo NICE!

My advice is that if you feel there is more wrong incocern with it being tumor on your pituitary then you need to see a Nero Srgn.. They deal with any brain tumors etc.. They will listen to you and check you with your history and all. You dont need a refferal from the Endo only your main Physc. Don't let other people have controll over your health.. I hope all will be well
