Hi there,
I am usually on the pain mgmt or spine health threads but I have just been told that I have a pituitary tumor and don't know which board would be best to get information from anyone else who has dealt with this...
I am a 38 yr. old female...no children..yet...
My symptoms started with breast disharge, my period was coming every two weeks...heavy....and then it went away for 2 months (not sexually active right now since going through a divorce...) sorry it this is TMI....
The last months have been other strange symptoms....constantly runny nose, headache, weight gain (I have stayed the same weight since high school so this is unusual for me.), and now I have had extremely low blood sugar, even when I eat the right foods....
One of the awful symptoms is that I am getting terrible hot flashes too....
The thing that scares me is if this is reversable and if this tumor is putting me into an early menopause so to speak.....I wonder if I will be able to get pregnant some day.....???? Obviously not even close to that since I am not dating....
I also just had my third major surgery on my neck for a failed fusion in November....It was about 5 hours long.....they cut through the front AND the back of my neck and loaded me up with cages, plates, screws, rods.....
The amazing blessing with that surgery is that I have less pain now than I had in years..... I was thinking I was in the clear for awhile with medical stuff.....This was the 2nd major surgery in less than a year for my neck.....
Just wanted to see if there is anyone who could give me some advice...I am talking to a friend who goes to an Endocrinologist so that I don't just choose someone out of the insurance book...
I think the next step is an MRI....i've had SO many of these lately I'm suprised I don't glow!!! I guess this will determine how big the tumor is and exactly what kind it is since I have more than one symptom and it looks like there are lots of kinds of these tumors depending on which side they grow on....
Thanks for "listening" and would appreciate any suggestions...
Blessings,
Ingrid
