To see if your pituitary is working, you [I]should[I] register a TSH level in relation to your t4. That is, if your t4 is in range, your TSH [I]should[I] be in range. If your t4 is high, your TSH [I]should[I] be low, and vice versa. A nonfunctioning pituitary would register as a really low TSH in the face of normal or high t4. Your other pit. hormones would show low also, such as a low FSH(which would raise a red flag in the face of menopause!). There are quite a few different things to look at for over all pit. function.
