Anybody Out There That's Had Surgery to Drain Pituitary Cyst?
Hi, there. Long story short, I have a pituitary cyst that's grown quite large and is causing a LOT of issues for me, not the least of which is horrific headaches, low cortisol requiring HC daily, exhaustion and fatigue. I went to Stanford University last week for evaluation (all the neurosurgeons prior to this visit had told me that it was a TUMOR, not a CYST). I was going to Stanford for evaluation to have their latest RADIATION therapy, but since they discovered it's actually a CYST and not a tumor, I can't have radiation, and instead must have SURGERY to drain the cyst.
I'm not thrilled by the idea of surgery, which is why I wanted radiation. So my questions for all of the people associated with this board are: Have you had the surgery to drain your cyst? 2) Did it help your symptoms? 3) Did it recur, leading to repeated surgeries to drain again? 4) Is it worth it? Would you do it again? Or do you wish you'd never done it?
I'm very hesitant to have any surgery anymore, as it has just not been the case (at least not for me) that surgery is a simple fix. It has usually led to even more problems in the past... This situation is so difficult as it is, that I don't want to risk making it worse... Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!
