the pain of polio

Hi everyone out there, especially those that are in the same old shoes as I am. I had sever polio in 1954, I was 7 at the time,, had the leg braces, back braces, all the stuff you all know so much about. Well, I am 59 now, and , like a lot of you guys, I am hurting. I have been told I am in Post Polio, but knowing that really don't help much. I live with muscle cramps, and lots of falling down, . Pain pills don't really seem to do that much. Hot pads, massages, relaxants, hot baths, ---what else is there to try. I have relocated, and have a new doctor. Called her to tell her I was in such pain, can't get me in untill next Monday. Do anyone of you guys, have a feeling of "rushing "in your legs or arms. I don't really know how else to describe it. But it will wake me from a deep sleep, keep me awake the rest of the night. I twist and bend every way I can, still can't get the feeling to leave. Any help out there would be so welcome. GOD bless you all, /

I don't get that rushing feeling but I do wake up in the middle of the night with leg pains, twinges, and starting to get charlies when joints are cold. I am very lucky that I didn't get a severe case of polio as child. I try to use anti inflamitories but they don,t help other than helping me get to sleep. Wish you luck with new Dr. momvst
