knee replacement in "good leg"

Hi. My mom has post polio in one leg. She wears a brace & has a cane yet that doesn't stop the falls. Now we have discovered that her "good leg" needs knee replacement. Can her bad leg support her during therapy after the surgery? We don't know. Where to begin ... we don't know. Can anyone help? We need advice. Surgery is scheduled in August and we are getting more nervous as the day approaches.

Re: knee replacement in "good leg"

Hi dear- So sorry to hear about your mom- are they positive she needs the surgery... My suggestion would be make sure they know Polio and Post Polio - she most likely will need rehibilatation(sp)- Hang in there I have heard PPS people that have had knee surgeries just make sure a PostPolio Doctor is involved.

Hugs Let us know Janet
