Mild polio, need some inputs

Hi,

Newbie here. I needed some advice about my right leg that is slightly weaker than my left. It is about 0.5 cm shorter than my left and is almost identical from knee down. However, my thigh is about 4-5 cm less in diameter than my left leg and the difference is much more pronounced in my hip region. I did get vaccine for polio and have been very active physically. It doesn't cause any problems but does hurt during winters and post-strenuous activities.

I am 22 now and it is not genetic. My mother says she started noticing the difference at around 2 yrs whenever she'd give me baths and would feel the right leg to be softer than left. I have had extensive medical care until I was about 10.

My question is if anyone is aware of what this might be (possibly a mild form of polio I believe) and more importantly what kind of specialist should I be seeking for any input in my situation.

I appreciate any input immensely. I have been little inhibited in discussing this with others but the anonymity of internet allows much freedom.

Thanks!

Re: Mild polio, need some inputs

So sorry to hear about someone so young. I also was vaccinated and contacted a mild case of Polio- my left leg was shorter and smaller than my right... Try and find a doctor that know Polio- that is so important but hard to find..

Try maybe a Physiatrist/ but again make sure they are familiar with Polio.

Keep us posted. Just so you know cold brings out symptoms of pain and fatigue(not only where Polio originally affected us but other areas) You need to keep dressed in layers in the cold- because it can cause muscle weakness and you are so young.. I am not trying to scare you but listen to your body..
Hugs Janet
