Post PCOS: Anyone With Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Hello. My new gynecologist thinks I may have PCOS. I have had blood drawn, and I am scheduled for both a Pelvic/Intervaginal Ultrasound and an Endometrial Biopsy. The latter is to rule out a pre-cancerous condition (for which I forgot the name) that can sometimes be caused by excess endometrial buildup. (Sorry. Not very pleasant.) Does anyone here have PCOS? Has anyone here ever had either of these procedures?

I’m looking for some general information on PCOS. I have found a number of good Web sites, the best one being http://www.pcosupport.org/ . However, I would really like feedback from some real, live people. Any information or testimonies would be welcome. Thank you!

Have a great day!

i've had a couple ultrasounds and a biopsy. the 1st ultrasound the found a cyst about the size of a golf ball but not even 2 mo's later it was completely gone. i was having pain and irregular discharge and the week b4 my period i had pink discharge. this was going on for almost 6mo's when the 2nd u/s was completed the dr basically told me nothing was wrong w/me & to stop my b@#$!ing! i asked why i was having irregular symptoms and he said it was probably all in my head. he told me to take tylenol for pain and motrin for swelling. the pain & irregularities come back from time to time but not full time anymore. the dr. said i probably get cyst that come and go at different times of the month. if this is what's happening to you please keep me posted.

now as for the u/s it's not bad at all. the room is nice and warm and cozy. i almost fell asleep. they put warm jelly on your tummy like you always see on tv and they move the sensor around for about 10-20 mins, if there is something there. if they don't see anything it takes like 3mins. then comes the weird part they have you put this light sabre thing inside of you and then they move it around. it doesn't hurt but sometimes it feels like they are hitting organs. the worst part of the u/s is the water drinking. they ask you to drink 64fl oz of water and not pee w/in 2hrs of the appt. now if you are like me, one of those people w/a small bladder, you'll be lucky to guzzel down 1/2 that. on my 2nd u/s i drank 1/4 of it on the ride there, pulled over in a parking lot and went potty, drank another 1/4 on my way through the hospital then went to my appt the lady said i had plenty of water in me. they let you pee b4 the light sabre part. i recomend if you've been having pain don't even try to drink 64 because i was almost in tears (my 1st u/s) b4 i hit 32oz. i had to sit cause i thought i'd pee my pants but if i sat it was putting pressure on the cyst. my boyfriend laughed and asked why i didn't just go pee. i was furious because i thought it was sarcasm but a minute later i took him up on it and as i walked from the restroom they called me in. i was worried i wouldn't have enough but i was dying again 1/2 way through the u/s!

now the biopsy. did they just say it was a good idea or did they say you had to have it cause it was the only way to prove you have cancerous cells? i had a biopsy done and come to find out later on the lady shouldn't have even done one until my results came back to show it was necessary. my results came back neg on everything and the dr that gave me the results said he would never have performed one unless all signs pointed to cancer. gurl you do not just want to have it done. trust me only do it if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO!!!! that was the most painful experience i've ever had, i was grabbing the sides of the bed and screaming at the dr. she said it'd be a little pinch-ya know just like they do durring pap smears-nope totally different little pinch. they cut out a chunk of you-she didn't tell me that at 1st! not to mention it took her like a 1 1/2 mins for what should have been less than 30 secs-i don't think she knew what she was doing. i started going into shock i wish i would have passed out but not so lucky. the nurse had to bring me water and put a cold cloth over my forehead. it took me 20 mins b4 i could stand cause i was so shakey. i highly stress that you do not do this unless all other test have been done and all results are back saying it is necessary!!!!

good luck. i really hope they don't do a biopsy on you. keep me updated.

i was really worried about drinking as much water as they told me to. i probably only drank about 1/6 of what they told me to, but the lady said my bladder was very full. just drink what you can. they tell everyone the same amount, and not everyone's bladder is that size! if i would have drank any more i probably would have peed on the woman when she started pushing on my stomach.
the awkward part is putting the "probe" or whatever they call it in you. it's one thing to go to the gyno and get the metal duck put in you for a few minutes, but to have some random x-ray tech hand you this huge (not thick huge, but long) plastic thing and tell you to "insert" it...yuk haha. then they stand there for what seems like forever and move it around while looking at their computer screen. like i said, it doesn't hurt, but it is weird. i'm a modest person though
