trying to get pregnant - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

hello. i am a 25 year old and my husband and i are desperately trying to have a baby. i was diagnosed with pcos about a 1 1/2 years ago. i am taking medication to lower my insulin levels and regulate my periods. it does not seem to be working. is there any other methods short of fertility drugs that anyone knows about? if so, please let me know.

I know that I was told that by losing weight that would be the best way to help regulate my periods. As well, my gynocologist has put me on medrooxyprogesterone to help keep my periods regulated.

You might speak to your gyno to see other options to help with fertility before trying the fertility drugs.

Yes me too im trying to get pregnant but my doc said I have to wait a year or so cause I have to be on Birth Control to help my pc. And he told me to loose weight also and it will help. Good Luck

You know, I have the same problem; however, when I said something to my gyno about being overweight about 60 pounds and should I try to lose weight. He just laughed and said isn't almost every American overweight and he told me to not be worried about my weight so much and relax.

Hi theheather,
I'm pretty new about this just discovered it today. I was recently diagnosed with pcos around a month ago and my doc wanted to put me on glucophage. i suggested progestrine, and then chlomaphine to help me get pregnant. The protgestrine helps with a period and then the chlomapine helps you to ovulate and get pregnant. Again, I'm new at this stuff but I've heard pretty good results from these assistants. So you should talk to your gyno about them if you and your husband really want to get pregnant right away. Let me know if this helps.
