How much metformin is safe while TTC? help!!! - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

im 23 and have really bad PCOS and i also had a dermoid cyst removed in september. after that i was put on metformin, but the hospital told me to take 2x 500 mg a day and continue the dose until i am pregnant and have had my 1st scan, however my doctor has told me to work up to 4x 500mg but not to take it at all if i want to get pregnant. i am so confused!!!

what have you guys been told? taking it is helping my periods become regular again but i dont want to risk harming a baby if i get pregnant!!! help!!!

Trust your Doc. I was on 2000mg daily when I was TTC, and through my first trimester. It is safe to take when TTC and helps to prevent miscarriage when you are pg. I also had a dermoid cyst that was found during my c-section. Is that a PCOS thing? I had never heard of them before they found mine during my sons birth.
