Ovary drilling and pcos - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

Hi

Im new to this but need some information on ovarian drilling. i have had pcos since i was 16 (im now 25) and have tried numerous ways to control it, using metformin being the best. I have just started fertility treatment and have had 4 cycles of clomid-on which i got pregnant and lost a little boy at 17 weeks.

. The doctor has now suggested ovarian drilling and flushing my fallopian tubes through. I just wondered whether anyone had experienced this and whether they had had any successful pregnancys by having it done.
Must admit im a little scared of having it done!

any info would be great!

Hi,

I am 27 and was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago. I just started seeing a RE, and am booked for ovarian drilling in April. I have probably did about 15 rounds of clomid with no luck (last 6 rounds at 150mg). I also had a laparascopy with hysterscopy done last May, but no problems found. Am crossing my fingers that the ovarian drilling works, because after that it goes to IUI or IVF. Good luck!

I had the lap and dye test last august.It's nothing to worry, about only a bit sore on your tummy from where they go inside a small cut above the pubic region and in the belly button.(advice take a week off work cos it's tender)
They drill 4 holes into your ovaries and flush a blue dye thru to check that there a no blockages.They say this should hopefully slow the pcos and allow a two year window for pregnancy

Sorry, I'm not actually replying to your concerns, but I do have a question for you. You mentioned you were diagnosed at 16. Do you remember what was to done to finally come to the conclusion that you had PCOS? I have a 15 year old who has almost all of the symptons, yet her gyno just tells me it's hard to diagnose! Really nothing has been done. On Yasmin to help regulate her periods, yet lately they are becoming sporatic again. Before Yasim she skipped 8 months. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
