am i too young!! - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

i am 19yrs old and was told i have PCOS about 2 years ago, one of my friends that also has PCOS she is 31yrs old, and it took her 8yrs to get pregnant. i want to know do ppl think i am too young to get medication to help me get pregnant, me and my bf have been together nearly 4yrs now and we have both talked about having a baby, but i am worried the my doctor will say i am too you to try 4 a baby..... i know i am only 19 but i dont want to wait till im around 30yrs and they say i too old, beacuse it takes so long to get pregnant....PLEASE help me

Hey girl!

I know exactly how you feel...I am also 19 years old and I got diagnosed with PCOS last year. I want a baby sooo bad because I'm afraid I won't be able to have one when I'm older. Even though that is my wish, I know I absolutely can't and won't because of my bf and college and yaddy ya....

But yea, being 19 years old and having a kid...that is young! I don't think the doctors will refuse to help you in becoming pregnant. You're legally an adult, but I really have no idea...I could be completely wrong.
Then again, you could wait a couple of years too. Cause I'm sure plenty of women who have PCOS have become pregnant. Yea, it might take more than the average effort to become pregnant, but it'll eventually happen.
Anyway, it'd be good if some women who have PCOS and have had children could give ya some insight on this. They'd be much more helpful to you.... and I'd like to know too! =)

I thought the same exact thing and started trying to concieve around the age of 20. It took me 3 years to have my bundle of joy w/o any medication or medical help. Yeah the 3 previous pregnancies didnt make it (im sure it was pcos related), but they were concieved.

It shows a great maturity being 19 and already thinking through this instead of just doing it like so many women out there. I'm sure a doctor will help you, at 19 you are an adult by law. Look into options out there. There is no harm in asking doctors before trying either to see if you are ready. The more knowledge you have the better in my opinion.
